Our Mission:
“Taking People to Deeper Intimacy with the Savior”

We believe that all people are sinners in need of a savior. We also believe that God has made Himself known to us in history through the person of Jesus Christ and that He is the Savior, dying on the cross for the sin of those who would believe in him. As Peter stated succinctly in Acts 4:12, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.”

We also affirm Jesus' prayer in John 17 where, in praying to the Father, He said: "Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent." The more we grow to know our God and Savior, the more we experience the eternal purpose to which He has called us, to glorify Him and serve Him forever.

Thus, the mission of Trinity Baptist Church is "taking people to deeper intimacy with the Savior." For us that means cultivating a devotion to God which promotes commitment to those in the community of faith as well as a compassion for others.  All that we do here at Trinity is done in order to take people to a deeper intimacy with the Savior, that they might better glorify God with their lives.

Our Vision:
Trinity Baptist Church exists to explore the questions of life, engage one another in our faith in Jesus the Messiah, and equip and empower one another to be agents of transformation in our spheres of influence.”

What does that mean? Well…

Trinity Baptist Church exists…
Our existence is not coincidental. This community of faith has been called into existence and sustained by the Creator of all things. We exist by His pleasure and for His pleasure, to be a visible representation of His purpose and character in this place at this time.

…to explore the questions of life…
Life isn’t easy or simple, nor do we want to represent it that way. We exist in a fog of ambiguity, and can easily get lost in the varying shades of gray. Rather than turn our backs on the gray or deny it exist, we boldly jump into it, offering a place for people to be open with each other about who we are and where we struggle. And we will stand with each other in the process as we seek to understand God in the midst of the gray.

…engage one another in our faith in Jesus the Messiah…
Jesus brings with Him life in all of its fullness, knowing from His own experience as a man what kind of problems we face. As the Messiah, the Son of God, He can show us our own hearts in ways that we never could see them without Him. We know that a relationship with Him is necessary for us to live the most fulfilling lives possible, in this life and in the next.

We also know that it is impossible to truly follow Jesus in isolation. Thus, to live out our faith we need to engage with one another, be involved in one another’s lives to encourage, strengthen, challenge, and help each other. We are not here to be a cult of superficial ‘yes men’ that simply cheer each other on to do whatever we want, but rather we aspire to speak the truth in love to each other so that together we become the people we were created to be.

…and equip and empower one another…
We are all in process—and that’s a good thing. We want to become all that God has created us to be and do all that he has prepared for us to do. But for this to happen we need to have the tools (be equipped) and be given the opportunities (empowered). And it is in the context of community that this happens.

…to be agents of transformation…
As our lives are changed by the Son of God, He will use us to change the lives of others around us. Through us He will bring light into dark places, mercy into cruel places, goodness in to places of exploitation, justice into places of oppression. In the power of His spirit He will use us to make things right.

…in our spheres of influence.
We don’t believe in accidents. We have each been placed where we are to do those things that the Lord has prepared us for. He has given us each strengths, abilities, passions, and experiences to prepare us to serve those around us in specific ways. He has also placed this community of faith where it is, Manhattan’s Upper East Side, to serve Him in some specific ways. And He has placed each of us in our various workplaces, giving us opportunities to take part in His redemptive plan. We ask and expect the Lord to use us, individually and corporately, where we are.
