His Toy Store is Hope for New York’s Christmas outreach to local families in need.

The His Toy Store program was launched in 1995 for families with limited financial resources across the city, and it is the biggest event that HFNY created that is supported by its affiliates and church partners.

This year, Hope for New York’s goal is to provide 4,300 toys for 1,790 families and they rely 100 percent on donations to make sure stores are stocked with toys like action figures, stuffed animals, baby dolls, and soccer balls.

That’s where you come in, Trinity! A team will be serving in December at the His Toy Store at The Salvation Army Temple (540 Lenox Ave at 137th Street), but we also want to help them stock these stores with toys. Help families across NYC experience joy this Christmas! Help HFNY stock 13 stores across the city with toys that parents with limited financial resources can choose for their children. Visit hfny.org/hts to support this outreach!

Who are the families who will receive these toys?

The parents who will shop at our stores include the working poor in low-income neighborhoods, formerly incarcerated individuals reconnecting with their families, and moms and dads in residential recovery programs. For many of them, His Toy Store is the only opportunity they have to provide gifts for their children.

We need volunteers

We are looking for volunteers to participate in helping families in need receive toys for their children for Christmas. We need volunteers to unload toys on Friday, December 6, from 7-9pm and volunteers to help run the store on Saturday, December 7, from 9am-1pm (approximately). The event is at The Salvation Army Temple 540 Lenox Ave at 137th Street. Please contact Genille (genillem@gmail.com) if you have questions about volunteering for either date!
