Trinity is one of 160 worship centers in NY state participating in the annual Sacred Sites Open House Weekend sponsored by New York Landmarks Conservancy. Saturday, May 20, 10am-3pm, and Sunday, May 21, 12-2pm. Drop in to discover how art and architecture tell the story of God at Trinity.
Designed by Swedish architect Martin Gravely Hedmark, the building was dedicated on January 21, 1931. Until 1942, the language of this church was Swedish. The congregation dates back to 1867, established to reach out to Swedish immigrants. So we are celebrating our 150th year as a congregation this year!
Both inside and out, the church features Art Deco style. Art Deco combines traditional craft motifs with Machine Age imagery and materials, often characterized by rich colors, bold geometric shapes and lavish ornamentation.
For more information and a tour, please come to one of the talks at 11:30am or 1:30pm on Saturday, May 20 OR Sunday, May 21 at 12:30pm.
