Our Elders

Biblically, the elders of the churches were charged with three roles: caring for the congregation they were overseeing (shepherding), guarding the truth of the scriptures (theological), and setting the direction for the church (missiological).

As shepherds they are charged with regularly caring for congregants through prayer and counseling and helping them to practically address the concerns they have in their lives.  Theologically, they have the responsibility for directing the spiritual life of the church, ensuring that the teaching content is doctrinally sound, that evangelistic and discipling efforts are in concert with the overall values and mission of the church, and that church discipline is biblically administered when necessary. They also spend quite a lot of time in the missiological role (vision formulation, vision casting, oversight of deacons, direction of church, etc.).
