A little history on Cru…
For more than 50 years, Dr. Bill Bright led Campus Crusade for Christ on its mission of fulfilling the Lord’s command of taking the Gospel to all people of all nations. In 1983, he inspired the launch of Cru (then Here’s Life Inner City), the compassionate and evangelistic urban outreach of Campus Crusade for Christ, to begin ministering to a vast unreached segment of society: the inner city.
“Reaching the inner-city poor is not an option,” Dr. Bright said. “We know from the thousands of Scriptural verses that God is deeply concerned about the poor of the urban area — the widows, the orphans, the poor; that the world does not have a solution to these problems. Only Christ can meet their needs; and I believe that God is doing something unique in our time: mobilizing the whole body of Christ in general and Campus Crusade for Christ in particular to do something about helping our brothers and sisters in the inner city.”
